The house she informed Hermann with some pride was an Italianate villa
built for a courtier to Prussian Prince Carl.
It stood directly across the water from both the Glienicke Castle, Prince Carl's residence,
and the Babelsberg Castle where Carl's brother Wilhelm lived.
The newly constucted electoral palaces, the "Pleasuregrounds", and the Elector's nearby hunting lodge were connected by avenues and Blickachsen (view axes) pointing toward the Havel and Klein-Glienicke on the western edge of the Havel.
